Maintenance Engineer

This role involves performing setup, troubleshooting, installation, and repairs of unplanned maintenance on all Tier I equipment, such as shrink wrap equipment, heat tunnels, printers, checkweighers, blenders, process equipment, conveyors, dust collectors, metal detectors, and box tapers, as well as 50% of Tier II equipment, including cartoners, stick machines, wrappers, gordics, presses, fabrication, and labelers. You will work with limited technical guidance and provide training to less experienced maintenance staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Repair and maintain manufacturing equipment on a daily basis.
  • Diagnose problems and identify long-term solutions to increase overall equipment effectiveness.
  • Properly install equipment ensuring that necessary safety standards are adhered to.
  • Document all maintenance or installation work performed for submission.
  • Fabricate parts for all production equipment as needed.
  • Ensure that machinery is set up and ready to run in accordance with production schedules.
  • Provide an accurate record of the installation of equipment.
  • Keep department workstations and storage areas orderly and as clean as possible.
  • Assist in the completion and revisions of Preventive Maintenance tasks and documentation required in the Maintenance Department.
  • Maintain maintenance stock supplies and reorder as required.
  • Provide training to maintenance staff and production personnel.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in maintenance technician roles.
  • Experience in maintenance mechanics.
  • Ability to perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of pneumatics.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance.
  • Repair skills.
  • PLC troubleshooting skills.
  • Fabrication skills.
  • Electrical and mechanical skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • 2-year technical college degree or equivalent.
  • 3 - 7 years of experience as a maintenance mechanic in a Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) environment, preferably in dietary supplements, pharmaceuticals, or food manufacturing.
  • Experience with fabricating own parts.
  • Experience in troubleshooting PLCs and sensors.

Work Environment:

The work environment includes the use of hearing protection as some machines can be noisy. Part of the time will be spent in a cleanroom environment, requiring gowns, hairnets, and adherence to a no-jewelry or cell phones policy on the production floor. Employees may experience a strong fruit smell as the facility deals with fruit-flavored powders.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $56000.00 - $74000.00/yr.
