Machine Operator
This role involves operating a shot blasting machine and supporting a variety of general labor tasks in a steel fabrication environment. You will work with metal components, assist in material handling, and perform finishing operations such as grinding and deburring to ensure parts meet quality standards.
Responsibilities:
- Operate the shot blasting machine safely and efficiently to clean and prepare metal parts.
- Perform general labor tasks, including moving materials and parts throughout the production area.
- Grind and deburr metal components to remove sharp edges, imperfections, and excess material.
- Use hand tools and power tools to complete production and finishing tasks as required.
- Assist with machine operation, including set ups, change overs, adjustments, and tool changes.
- Follow blueprints and work instructions to ensure parts meet specifications and quality requirements.
- Conduct basic inspection of parts and finished products to verify accuracy and quality.
- Support production goals by maintaining consistent output and minimizing downtime.
- Follow all safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to address production issues and improve processes.
Essential Skills:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in machine operation or CNC operation.
- Experience working with metals in a production or fabrication environment.
- Proficiency in operating production machinery, including set ups, change overs, adjustments, and tool changes.
- Ability to operate and maintain shot blasting equipment.
- Skilled in using hand tools and power tools for grinding, deburring, and general labor tasks.
- Ability to read and follow blueprints and production documentation.
- Experience performing basic inspection of parts and finished products.
- Capability to work safely and effectively in a loud, dirty, and non-climate-controlled environment.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing for long periods and handling metal parts.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- General labor, assembly, or production work in a manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with CNC machining processes and related equipment.
- Comfort working with shot blast operations and metal finishing processes.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality parts.
- Willingness to work extended hours, including 12-hour days and some Saturdays when required.
- Ability to adapt to changing production needs and support multiple tasks as needed.

Job Type & Location:
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Louisville, KY.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $27.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
