Medium Voltage Service Technician

This role is designed for an experienced Medium Voltage electrician who is confident and comfortable working around energized equipment. You will be executing switchgear procedures, diagnosing feeder and transformer issues, and performing field-level fault investigation without constant oversight. The core responsibility is medium voltage infrastructure reliability, including pad-mounted transformers, switchgears, reclosers, terminations, and associated MV distribution equipment up to 34.5kV.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee installations, operations, maintenance, safety, and testing on commercial solar projects in the Chicagoland area.
• Execute switchgear procedures and diagnose feeder and transformer issues.
• Perform field-level fault investigation independently.
• Ensure medium voltage infrastructure reliability.
• Uphold rigorous safety standards and set an example for disciplined execution around energized equipment.

Essential Skills:

• Experience with medium voltage electrical systems up to 34.5kV.
• Proficiency in electrical wiring, troubleshooting, and installation.
• Familiarity with high voltage systems, blueprints, schematics, and cable testing.
• Competence in working with cabling, relays, switchgear, transformers, and commissioning.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• OSHA10 certification.
• OSHA30 certification.
• NFPA-70E certification.
• NETA certification.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wood Dale, IL.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
