Heavy Equipment Operator - 3rd Shift - $22.90/HR
We are seeking a dedicated Heavy Equipment Operator to efficiently transport salt and other materials within our mine. This role involves loading, hauling, and unloading materials while adhering to safety regulations and operational procedures.
Responsibilities
- Move materials using heavy equipment underground.
- Transport salt across the mine using heavy equipment.
- Inspect finished products to ensure they meet required specifications.
- Assist the maintenance department with preventive maintenance on equipment as needed.
- Operate a forklift and other heavy equipment to move salt throughout the mine.
- Complete assigned paperwork accurately for specific customers and orders.
- Perform daily housekeeping tasks.
Essential Skills
- Experience with Heavy Equipment Operating, including excavators, dump trucks, and haul trucks.
- Safety-conscious mindset with a 'see something, say something' attitude on the job site.
- Ability to work underground comfortably for the majority of the shift.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs repetitively during a 10-hour shift.
- Possession of steel-toed boots or shoes.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Certifications for Heavy Equipment Operating, even without prior experience.
- Comfortable working in various elements, both underground and above ground.
- Preferred long-term Heavy Equipment Operating experience within a mine setting.

Work Environment
This role is located 1100 feet below ground in a salt mine that feels like a large warehouse rather than a cramped cave. The environment varies with temperature changes, requiring candidates to work in both hot and cold conditions depending on the day. The position involves a 3rd shift from Sunday to Thursday, 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM, with a minimum of 50 hours per week and occasional Saturday work.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $46384.00 - $46384.00/yr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
