Food Services Worker
The Food Services Worker prepares and serves high-quality food in a clean, safe, and customer-focused environment. This role follows standardized recipes and food-safety procedures, supports meal production and service, and collaborates closely with dietary and nutrition teams to ensure an excellent dining experience for patients, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Prepare high-quality food items using standardized recipes and production sheets.
- Ensure all meals are served at the correct temperature with proper portioning and appealing presentation.
- Taste prepared foods to verify quality, flavor, and consistency before service.
- Follow HACCP guidelines, sanitation standards, and food-safety procedures at all times.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, including regular cleaning and care of equipment and workspaces.
- Assist with daily meal preparation, production planning, and basic food ordering tasks as needed.
- Receive, label, and store food and supply shipments according to proper rotation and storage standards.
- Support patient meal service or retail food operations, depending on assignment and location.
- Work collaboratively with dietary staff, supervisors, and clinical nutrition teams to support overall foodservice operations.
- Provide friendly, efficient customer service to patients, visitors, and staff in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform general cleaning duties related to foodservice, including dishwashing, surface sanitizing, and waste handling.
- Operate within the pizza station, preparing and serving pizza and related menu items during scheduled shifts.
Essential Skills
- Previous food service, food prep, or cleaning experience preferred.
- Experience in roles such as prep cook, fry cook, line cook, fast food worker, restaurant worker, or food service worker is beneficial.
- Strong customer service mindset with the ability to interact courteously and professionally.
- Team-oriented approach with good communication skills to work effectively with dietary and clinical staff.
- Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation principles, including HACCP practices.
- Ability to stand for extended periods during shifts.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as part of routine duties.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, retail or hospitality-style foodservice environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in hospitality, retail, or retail sales is helpful.
- Experience working in a pizza station or similar station-based foodservice setting is an advantage.
- Customer service–oriented attitude with a focus on creating a positive dining experience.
- Flexibility to support both patient meal service and retail operations as needed.
- Willingness to learn and follow standardized recipes, production sheets, and portioning guidelines.
- Comfort performing cleaning and sanitation tasks throughout the shift.

Work Environment
This role is based in a hospital foodservice setting in the main downtown facility, primarily working in the pizza station. The standard shift runs from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., including weekend coverage. You will always receive two days off each week but must be comfortable working every other weekend. The environment is clean and well maintained, with new machines and equipment and a focus on sanitation, safety, and efficient workflow in a busy, patient- and customer-facing setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $20.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
