Patient Care Host/Hostess
A Patient Care Host/Hostess provides personalized meal service and hospitality support to patients throughout their hospital stay. Working under the supervision of the Director of Food Services, this role ensures that patients receive meals that meet their dietary needs, preferences, and physician-ordered restrictions. The position blends customer service, attention to detail, and basic nutrition support to enhance the patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist patients with selecting meals that align with their dietary requirements and restrictions
- Deliver meals directly to patient rooms and ensure accuracy of trays
- Prepare simple food items as needed
- Monitor and record patient food and fluid intake when required
- Clear trays and clean dishware after meals
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of unit pantries; restock supplies as needed
- Communicate with nursing staff and dietitians regarding patient needs or concerns
- Provide friendly, compassionate service to patients and families
Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Comfort interacting with patients of varying ages and conditions
- Basic understanding of nutrition or willingness to learn
- Ability to stand, walk, and lift light items throughout the shift
- Prior experience in food service or healthcare is helpful but not always required
Typical Schedule
- Full-time positions with variable shifts
- Common shift example: 6:15 AM – 5:45 PM
- Every other weekend required

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lancaster, PA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $17.00/hr.
