Food Service Worker
As a Food Service Worker, you will play a crucial role in assembling and delivering meal trays for patients, ensuring their dietary needs and preferences are met. This role involves working in a refrigerated environment and requires attention to detail and excellent customer service skills.
Responsibilities
- Assemble tray carts of patient lunch and dinner meal trays based on patient selections and diet orders.
- Customize patient meal trays by adding requested drinks, desserts, and rolls before delivery.
- Set up patient food service stations for breakfast trays and assist in their assembly.
- Deliver meal trays and snacks to patients, replace missing items, and offer alternative selections for regular diets.
- Communicate with the Hospitality Service Office for patients on restricted diets.
- Refill beverages and condiments from the hospitality cart.
- Inform nursing staff of refused, missing, or undelivered trays and document food and liquid intake for selected patients.
- Retrieve meal trays from patient rooms, ensure no personal items are left, and prepare dishes for washing.
- Deliver menus, explain the menu process to patients, assist with menu selection, and ensure every patient is contacted.
- Check for new admissions or diet changes, deliver menus and diet awareness cards, and return completed menus.
- Deliver NOW trays, discharged trays, guest trays, and isolation trays, obtaining nursing staff sign-off.
- Inventory and stock hospitality carts and baskets, and deliver bulk nourishments as requested.
- Provide clerical support to the Hospitality Service Office, answer telephones, and follow up on requests.
- Produce standard computer reports, including meal tallies and diet orders, and enter patient selections.
Essential Skills
- Experience in food service, tray line, and food preparation.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Ability to follow recipes and ensure quality food preparation.
- Proficiency in using computer systems for reporting and order entry.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience as a cook, prep cook, or line cook.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Work Environment

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
