Key Responsibilities

• Assemble and deliver patient meal trays according to dietary orders and individual preferences.
• Customize trays with appropriate drinks, desserts, and sides.
• Set up food service stations and assist with assembling breakfast trays.
• Deliver meals and snacks to patient care units, replace missing items, and offer suitable alternatives.
• Communicate with nursing staff regarding tray refusals or missing items.
• Document food and liquid intake for designated patients.
• Retrieve trays post-meal and ensure personal items are returned.
• Assist with dishwashing, sorting, and cleaning food carts.
• Distribute menus, explain meal selection processes, and assist patients with choices.
• Monitor new admissions and diet changes, ensuring accurate menu delivery.
• Fulfill special meal requests and obtain nursing staff sign-off.
• Maintain inventory of hospitality carts and deliver bulk nourishments.
• Provide clerical support to the Hospitality Service Office, including answering calls and entering patient preferences.
• Generate standard reports and attend departmental in-services.

Qualifications

• Experience in food preparation or volume cooking preferred.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to operate basic computer systems for data entry and report generation.
• Previous experience as a line cook is a plus.

Work Environment

• Hospital-based Nutritional Services department.
• Refrigerated work areas and patient-facing responsibilities.
• Shifts run from 2 PM to 11 PM.
• Weekend availability is required — no exceptions.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00/hr.
