Environmental Service Attendant
The Environmental Service Attendant plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary hospital environment for patients, visitors, and staff. This position directly supports infection prevention efforts by performing routine and specialized cleaning in patient rooms, clinical areas, and common spaces while adhering to strict hospital and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, and high-touch surfaces according to hospital standards.
- Perform thorough terminal cleaning of discharged patient rooms following established hospital protocols.
- Handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely in accordance with OSHA guidelines and hospital procedures.
- Remove trash, biohazard waste, and soiled linen from designated areas and transport them to appropriate disposal locations.
- Restock supplies such as soap, paper products, and personal protective equipment (PPE) in assigned areas.
- Maintain floors by sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and spot-cleaning in patient rooms, corridors, and common areas.
- Support infection control standards, including proper use of PPE and adherence to isolation room cleaning procedures.
- Respond promptly and professionally to cleaning requests from nursing and clinical staff.
- Ensure all assigned work areas consistently meet hospital cleanliness, safety, and infection control standards.
- Perform daily patient room cleaning and sanitization, including bed-making, trash removal, and restocking of supplies.
- Clean and maintain common areas such as hallways, waiting rooms, and restrooms to provide a safe and welcoming environment.
- Communicate respectfully and professionally with patients, families, and hospital staff while performing cleaning duties.
- Follow detailed cleaning procedures and safety protocols to minimize the risk of infection and maintain a safe environment.
- Manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks and rounds within scheduled shifts.
Essential Skills
- Demonstrated ability to perform janitorial, housekeeping, and custodial duties in a professional setting.
- Experience with cleaning tasks such as mopping, sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, and general labor.
- Proficiency in patient room cleaning and sanitization, including daily cleaning, bed-making, trash removal, and supply restocking.
- Knowledge of infection control practices, including proper disinfecting of high-touch surfaces, equipment, and isolation rooms.
- Ability to use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely while following OSHA guidelines and PPE requirements.
- Skill in floor care and common-area cleaning, including maintaining hallways, waiting rooms, and restrooms.
- Professional and compassionate communication skills for interacting respectfully with patients, families, and clinical staff.
- Strong reliability, time management, and attention to detail in completing assigned tasks.
- Ability to follow detailed cleaning procedures and safety protocols accurately.
- Physical ability to lift, push, and pull cleaning equipment and carts as needed.
- Comfort working around patients, staff, and visitors in an active hospital environment.

- Previous janitorial or housekeeping experience preferred.

Work Environment
This role is based in a hospital environment, working in occupied patient rooms, clinical areas, hallways, waiting rooms, and restrooms. You will regularly use cleaning equipment, disinfectants, and other cleaning agents while following OSHA and hospital safety guidelines. The position involves being on your feet for extended periods and requires the ability to lift, push, and pull carts and equipment. You will work in proximity to patients, visitors, and healthcare staff and will consistently follow infection control protocols, including appropriate use of personal protective equipment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburg, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $13.50 - $13.50/hr.
