Industrial Control Panel Technician

Join our dynamic team as an Industrial Control Panel Technician, where you will build, layout, and wire a variety of industrial control panels. This role involves working with both mechanical and electrical components, ensuring projects are completed accurately and on time.

Responsibilities

• Build, layout, and wire industrial control panels, including tasks such as stripping wire, crimping lugs, and performing continuity checks.
• Perform physical modifications of enclosures and interior panels by drilling, tapping holes, and using hole saws and knockouts.
• Conduct repetitive operations such as soldering wires to terminals and plugs, installing relays, and wiring circuit boards.
• Wiring mechanical equipment as required.
• Use power tools and hand tools to construct and assemble various structures.
• Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and diagrams to determine project specifications.
• Measure and mark materials for cutting and shaping using machining tools and calipers.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure projects are completed on time and according to specifications.
• Maintain proper inventory levels for stock items.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
• Assist others where needed and perform tasks assigned by the Engineering department.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in using power tools, hand tools, and machining equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, electrical schematics, and diagrams.
• Experience with electrical work is required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Strong interpersonal skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• The ability to prioritize and plan tasks efficiently in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

The work environment is a clean shop setting with hours from 8 AM to 5 PM. Currently, there is no work in the shipyard, although we are bidding on additional projects. The role does not require a specific dress code.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $25.00/hr.
