CNC Machinist (up To 38/hr)

CNC Machinist

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist who will be responsible for setting up and running a 2-Axis Prototrak standalone machine and a 3 Axis Fanuc controlled Milling Machine. The ideal candidate will be able to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and shop sketches, using conventional machine shop equipment to cut, machine, and shape raw materials according to drawing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and shop sketches.
• Use conventional machine shop equipment and machinery to cut, machine, and shape raw materials.
• Build fixtures and holding devices to support work pieces in process.
• Set up, load, and operate various machine tools including cutoff saws, lathes, mills, grinders, and other machinery.
• Program, set up, and operate CNC machine tools including lathes and mills.
• Use off-line programming software to develop CNC programs.
• Analyze job requirements and apply best shop practices to meet drawing requirements efficiently.
• Use various hand tools to achieve finish requirements.
• Operate forklift as needed.
• Assemble machined or fabricated components.

Essential Skills

• Experience in CNC machining and CNC set-up.
• Proficiency in programming, particularly using software such as SolidWorks, Mastercam, Autocad, Prototrak, and Fanuc.
• Skill in blueprint reading.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of formal apprenticeship program or in-company four-year training program.
• Proficiency in using various hand tools.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Portsmouth, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
