Building Engineer

As a Building Engineer, you will be responsible for assigning tasks to team members and ensuring all duties are completed in a timely manner. You will install, repair, adjust, service, and maintain electric or pneumatic control systems used for building heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems and equipment, including calibration of related instruments, gauges, and control components.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect and conduct ongoing maintenance on building HVAC equipment to ensure proper operation and compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and work safety.
  • Troubleshoot equipment failures and identify the best course of action for equipment modifications.
  • Apply in-depth knowledge of standard principles and procedures to accomplish complex assignments.
  • Provide innovative solutions and share in-depth knowledge of own job discipline and broad knowledge of several job disciplines within the function.
  • Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with company values.
  • Work to build consensus and convince others to reach an agreement.
  • Impact a range of customer, operational, project, or service activities within own team and other related teams.
  • Work within broad guidelines and policies.
  • Work on HVAC systems and troubleshoot before calling a vendor.
  • Utilize experience with BMS systems and high-rise building maintenance.

Essential Skills:

  • HVAC experience with EPA certification.
  • Experience in building maintenance within high-rise buildings.
  • Familiarity with BMS systems.
  • Skills in electrical, plumbing, painting, preventive maintenance, drywall, and carpentry.
  • Proficiency in facilities maintenance and repair.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma with 3-5 years of job-related experience.
  • Prior shift manager or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role including stooping, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and carrying heavy loads of 50 lbs. or more.
  • Ability to exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information.
  • Willingness to take a new perspective on existing solutions.
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Organizational skills with an advanced inquisitive mindset.
  • Sophisticated math skills for calculating percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of San Francisco, California.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $46.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
