Building Engineer-Up to $30/hr
The Building Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of facility equipment across all systems. This role requires demonstrated technical expertise in at least one core trade—Electrical, HVAC, Piping/Plumbing, or Central Utility Plant Operations—along with multi-skilled capabilities in other areas to complete daily and weekly assignments effectively.
Responsibilities
- Please perform maintenance, monitoring, and repairs on mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire/life safety, and control systems to ensure compliance with the appropriate standards.
- Oversee facility services, including preventive maintenance, purchasing, inventory control, contracted services, and general maintenance.
- Maintain HVAC systems and related equipment through cleaning, inspection, calibration, and part replacement to ensure optimal performance.
- Record equipment readings and make necessary adjustments to maintain proper operation.
- Adhere to safety protocols for the storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials, and maintain a clean, safe work environment.
- Conduct periodic inventory checks of tools and instruments.
- Monitor the quality and cost of maintenance work performed by external contractors.
- Follow all safety procedures and promote good housekeeping practices; identify and recommend solutions for potential hazards.
Essential Skills
- Expertise in electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and facility maintenance.
- Strong troubleshooting capabilities.
- Ability to perform repair, carpentry, mechanical, preventive maintenance, and hydraulics work.
- Experience with boiler and building maintenance, lighting, refrigeration, and maintenance engineering.
- Proficiency in reading schematics and using power tools.
- Knowledge of HVAC, troubleshooting, plumbing, electrical, and building automation systems.
- Experience with hand tools, painting, maintenance, repair, and EPA regulations.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 5–7 years of experience in maintaining and repairing commercial building systems.
- Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot commercial or industrial mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
- EPA 608 Type II Certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Preferred qualifications include EPA 608 Universal Certification and completion of two years of trade school in electrical system design, refrigeration, or HVAC.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
