Job Title: Machine Operator $18hr+ $2,000 sign on bonus!!

Job Description

The Machine Operator sets up, operates, and performs basic maintenance on production machinery to manufacture high-quality components. This role inspects workpieces using precision measuring tools, interprets blueprints and job orders to meet product specifications, and maintains a clean and safe work area in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production machinery safely and efficiently to meet daily production targets.
  • Perform basic machine setup and adjustments to ensure proper operation and product quality.
  • Carry out basic preventive maintenance on machines as directed, including lubrication, minor repairs, and routine checks.
  • Observe machine operations closely to identify irregularities, malfunctions, or defects in workpieces.
  • Inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other measuring tools to verify dimensions and quality standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and job orders to determine product specifications, tooling requirements, and proper machine settings.
  • Monitor production processes and make necessary adjustments to maintain quality and efficiency.
  • Clean machinery regularly and maintain a neat, organized, and safe work area.
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials and parts from machines as needed.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to facility guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members, press operators, and utility operators to support smooth workflow and continuous production.
  • Document production information and inspection results accurately as required.

Essential Skills

  • At least 1 year of machine operation experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 1 year of quality inspection experience using micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
  • Proficiency in operating production machinery, including press, punch press, or similar industrial equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and job orders to determine product specifications and machine settings.
  • Experience using precision measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges to inspect workpieces.
  • Capability to stand for the duration of the shift in a heavy industrial setting.
  • Ability to safely lift and handle materials in an industrial environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong focus on producing accurate, high-quality parts.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude for performing routine machine setup and minor maintenance.
  • Commitment to following safety procedures and maintaining a clean work area.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience as a machine operator, press operator, or utility operator in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with press brake and punch press operations.
  • Experience operating or working around large CNC machines.

Work Environment

This role is based in a heavy industrial manufacturing facility that produces very large and long railroad-related equipment. The environment includes large CNC machines, presses, and other industrial equipment. Temperatures can become very hot in the summer and cold in the winter, so candidates should be comfortable working in varying climate conditions. Work is primarily performed on the production floor, requiring standing for most of the shift and handling materials and parts. The facility emphasizes safety, proper use of equipment, and maintaining clean and organized work areas. Attire is typical for an industrial setting, with appropriate workwear and personal protective equipment required in production areas.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Cleveland, OH.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $20.50/hr.
