Warehouse Material Handler

This role focuses on material handling and warehouse support activities, including operating stand-up order picker and reach forklifts, performing pick/pack and kitting tasks, and maintaining accurate inventory through cycle counts. You will work with handheld barcode scanners and basic PC systems to move, track, and verify products while supporting a safe, clean, and organized warehouse environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate materials handling equipment, including stand-up order picker and reach style forklifts, to move products safely and efficiently.
• Load and unload freight from trucks and staging areas.
• Handle product movement for receiving, picking, packing, and kitting using a handheld barcode scanner.
• Check, count, and verify freight and inventory for accuracy.
• Perform cycle counts to help maintain accurate inventory records.
• Inspect forklift equipment on a daily basis and perform minor maintenance as needed.
• Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area at all times.
• Assist in maintaining the security of the warehouse and follow all safety procedures.
• Conduct daily operations in a manner that promotes safety for yourself and others.
• Perform other warehouse and material handling duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• At least 6+ months of warehouse experience in pick, pack, and kitting activities.
• Certification and hands-on experience operating stand-up order picker forklifts.
• Certification and hands-on experience operating reach style forklifts.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis.
• Ability to perform accurate cycle counts and basic inventory checks.
• Comfort using handheld barcode scanners for product movement and tracking.
• Basic PC skills to support warehouse and inventory tasks.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all material handling activities.
• Ability to learn new tasks quickly in a fast-paced warehouse environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in warehouse packing, picking, kitting, and material handling.
• Experience with loading and unloading freight in a warehouse setting.
• Good problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently once trained.
• Strong focus on safety and adherence to warehouse procedures.
• Effective communication skills to work collaboratively with warehouse team members.

This is a Contract position based out of Vernon Hills, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
