Job Description

AECOM is seeking an experienced Wireless Communications (RF) Engineer for support of current and future projects. The successful candidate will be tasked with evaluating designing radio systems for clients in multiple industries, including Mass Transit, Power, Public Safety, and Law Enforcement. You will be working closely with other communications engineers and designers to evaluate and design RF and wireless solutions for our clients.

Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate excellent grasp of computer modeling, deep knowledge of wireless network systems, and the ability to work as part of a team to ensure success as an RF engineer.
  • Accurately identify network issues and design systems that improve speed and coverage.
  • Use computer software to design RF installations for new wireless networks.
  • Ensure RF test equipment is calibrated to industry standards.
  • Travel to customer locations and field sites to conduct on-site assessments and implementations.
  • Test the performance of existing wireless networks and analyze RF broadcasting equipment.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to enhance network performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot complex network issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Conduct laboratory tests on RF equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Ensure all designs and implementations meet regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
  • Create detailed radio requirements and specifications for various projects.
  • Perform comprehensive radio performance testing and generate detailed test reports.
  • Utilize iBwave or similar analysis and design software for network planning and optimization.
  • Apply advanced knowledge of cellular, 5G, LTE, RF, and voice radio networks in project designs.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends in wireless communications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate RF systems with other network components.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
  • Participate in client meetings to discuss project requirements and present technical solutions.
  • Contribute to the development of best practices and standard operating procedures for RF engineering within the organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Professional Engineer license is required

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree in engineering (Electrical, Information Systems, or other relevant discipline)
  • Engineering experience concentrated in RF engineering
  • Ability to travel when required.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Good troubleshooting skills.
