Track Design Responsible Engineer

AECOM is seeking to hire a Principal Permanent Way Engineer to work within our London based Permanent Way team.
The role will require experience of S&C design delivery within a multidisciplinary design team environment, capable of delivering Track design and provide consulting services for railway infrastructure projects in the capacity of Contractor's Responsible Engineer (CRE).
The candidate will also be required to enhance the team's portfolio of skills and expertise, supporting the track team leader in running projects and the mentoring of less experienced team members.
Specific tasks to be performed are inclusive of the following:
- Lead in the production of track designs and provision of technical support throughout to support all stages of the design process (Feasibility through to Construction).
- As CRE, Independently deliver / manage the production of design deliverables in accordance with client requirements (i.e. Form A, Form B and For Construction submissions)Technical quality of deliverables – undertaking checks of design deliverables completed by members of the team in accordance with company procedures.
- Timely delivery in accordance with design programmes. Attendance at technical design reviews including Design and Construction Interface meetings and Interdisciplinary Design Checks to present the Track design.
- Manage personal / team budgets and resourcing to achieve financial targets.Keep up to date with industry best practice and where appropriate apply best practice within the team environment.
Specific Skills Required:
- Strong experience in the application of track design principles
- Ability to manage design teams to achieve the specific scope of works within timescales prescribed
- Ability to identify and interrogate the dependencies between track and associated disciplines which may impact the track design proposal
- In particular, the impact of Signalling, ETE and OLE requirements on S&C layout proposals
- Ability to identify reasonable opportunity and significant risk and articulate the identified reasonable opportunity/risk to the client so action may be taken in a timely manner
- The ability to identify changes in scope and to appropriately detail their impact with respect to programme and budget
- Knowledge of maintenance practices and construction methodologies and the ability to consider/define requirements within design development
- Ability to create single discipline programmes of work in support of the production of multidisciplinary programmes by the CEM
- To work collaboratively with design teams, the Client and with all stakeholders
- Experience in both light rail and heavy rail, able to demonstrate their involvement as a designer and CRE.
- Experience in depot design and able to demonstrate their involvement as CRE
