AECOM has a thriving, multidisciplinary Water Structural Engineering team in New Orleans and we are looking for an experienced Structural Engineer to join the growing team in our New Orleans office. AECOM's Global Water Team is involved in high profile, industry leading infrastructure projects in the US and overseas, including a variety of significant projects for Local and National Governments, Water Authorities, and many other clients. We work on projects through all stages from feasibility through design, construction, operation, maintenance, and asset management.

Some of the key responsibilities of the position are expected to include:

  • Support the Structural Department with the layout and design of hydraulic structures, water and wastewater treatment facilities, and other related structures.
  • Performs work, which may include a variety of complex features such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements.
  • Independently prepare engineering related calculations.
  • Review work prepared by other engineers within the department.
  • Develop structural technical specifications, plans, and details.
  • Verify compliance with applicable codes and engineering standards/ practices. As necessary, modifies established guidelines, devises new approaches, applies existing criteria in new ways and draws conclusions from comparative situations.
  • Coordinate with other in-house engineering disciplines as needed.
  • Perform condition assessments and site visits as needed.

The Structural Engineering team brings together the skills of project managers, civil engineers, structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, numerical modelers, and a wide range of related disciplines. We provide our clients with technically innovative, integrated, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions, ranging from high-profile infrastructure programs through locally significant projects that make a real difference to the communities we live in and serve. You will join a dynamic local department of high-performing engineers ranging in experience from apprentice to director level, as part of a larger Regional Water Resources Engineering team. Minimum Requirements: BA/BS and 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineering (PE) License
  • Master's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering
  • CAD, REVIT Skills
  • Knowledge of computer analysis and design software such as SAP 2000, RISA 3D, STAAD.Pro, SAFE and (or equivalent)
