Resident Engineer

AECOM is actively seeking a talented Resident Engineer to support the Baltimore, MD area. The Resident Engineer (RE) will be responsible for the effective administration of the construction contract and will interact closely with the Construction Manager (CM). The selected candidate will have daily contact with the Contractor(s) Project Manager and Plant Operations and have the primary responsibility for quality assurance of the construction.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the Project Quality Plans interface satisfactorily with the requirements of the Contract.
  • Ensure implementation of the Quality Plan for the project.
  • Oversee the field operation to ensure schedules are adhered to and the overall construction program maintained.
  • Oversee the field staff and deploy in such a manner as to minimize cost and maximize production, i.e.: deploy staff using day and night shifts to minimize overtime and travel.
  • Review and monitor the Contractor's daily and weekly work progress and compared to what has been shown in the schedule. Report any delays or lost time to the CM for action.
  • Consult with the CM on construction problems and recommend corrective actions.
  • Coordinate the activities of the contracts with outside agencies and utilities.
  • Ensure job safety procedures in the accepted HASP(s) are strictly adhered to.
  • Direct the activities of the Assistant Resident Engineer(s) Chief Inspectors and Office Engineers.
  • Direct public and media inquiries to the appropriate department representative.
  • Prepare all project related correspondence and provide to CM for final review prior to issuance.
  • Conduct job coordination and progress meetings.
  • Ensure the project daily inspection reports are timely, complete and certified by an authorized person.
  • Prepare and review monthly estimates and final payments.
  • Ensure staff maintains high ethical standards.
  • Review monthly progress reports to client.
  • Review and comment on CPM Schedule updates.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • BA/BS in mechanical, electrical, or civil/structural engineering plus 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and /or education
  • P.E. license or ability to obtain license within 1 year of hire
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Health and Safety Course
  • Demonstrated experience with wastewater construction infrastructure projects and wastewater mechanical process equipment installation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Health and Safety Course
  • Scaffolding Training
  • Erosion and Sediment Control Training
  • BEDC EHS Standards Training (4 Hour)
  • HAZWOPER 40
  • PMIS- e-Builder Training
