Job Description

We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our Electrification & Power (E&P) team. This is an exciting opportunity for an electrical design professional with a passion for innovation, a strong technical foundation and a proven record of supporting complex rail infrastructure projects.

You will support the technical and commercial delivery of key rail projects, with a particular focus on low voltage (LV) systems, including Station M&E and Lineside E&P design.

The team provides design, assessment, inspection, construction support and management services across a wide range of rail infrastructure projects. Our work spans the full lifecycle from feasibility studies and outline design through to detailed design and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of electrical design packages across rail infrastructure projects
  • Prepare key elements of design deliverables including technical reports, electrical calculations, lighting calculations and CAD drawings in industry standard software
  • Undertake desktop studies, record searches and site surveys to assess available records and existing site conditions prior to design development
  • Coordinate with colleagues in other rail disciplines to ensure design proposals are consistent and coherent across all design submissions
  • Ensure designs comply with all relevant regulations, including NR/RSSB standards and guidance, British Standards, CDM/CSM, and Health & Safety legislation

What We're Looking For

  • Proven experience in supporting the delivery of E&P design for the UK rail sector
  • Good working knowledge of low voltage systems including but not limited to platform lighting, LV power distribution, points heating, and signalling power
  • Experience working to Network Rail, London Underground, Railway Group Standards, British Standards and Eurocodes
  • Familiarity with the full project lifecycle – from feasibility and concept design through to detailed design and construction support
  • Awareness of CDM regulations, design safety principles and risk assessment
  • Good communication, coordination and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A collaborative and proactive mindset with the ability to identify and present potential efficiencies and other improvements to the wider team

If you're passionate about innovation and turning bold ideas into reality, AECOM welcomes you. Join our team, where we don't just construct infrastructure but also uplift communities and enhance lives.
