Job Description

Our Auckland Transport team is looking for a Principal Structural Engineer with strong local experience to lead major and medium-sized infrastructure projects such as Te Wai Takamori o Te Awa Kairangi (Riverlink) and the Northland Corridor. With a strong pipeline of work and a focus on team culture, this role is ideal for a seasoned engineer with a successful track record in structural design and project leadership.

How you'll make a difference:

  • Provide technical leadership across structural and multi-disciplinary projects, ensuring high-quality design and delivery outcomes.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering knowledge sharing and professional growth.
  • Apply expert knowledge of the NZTA Bridge Manual, relevant NZ standards, and MIDAS Civil (including non-linear analysis).
  • Incorporate understanding of local geotechnical conditions, including soil liquefaction, into effective design solutions.

Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don't tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), New Zealand, with a Bachelor of Engineering and a strong foundation in structural design.
  • 8–10+ years of design experience in New Zealand, with deep knowledge of NZ Standards and the NZTA Bridge Manual.
  • Proven track record delivering complex infrastructure projects, with strong local design experience and expertise in NZ earthquake design, including incorporating understanding of local geotechnical conditions, including soil liquefaction, into effective design solutions.
  • Expert user of MIDAS Civil including advanced capability in non-linear analysis.
