At AECOM, we offer a supportive and collaborative environment where you can start building a meaningful career. As a Fieldwork Coordinator, you'll play a key role in collecting data that helps inform local and central government policy around transport and environmental issues.

This role is ideal for someone interested in market research and data collection. You'll be involved in coordinating field teams and gathering insights that help us understand how people move, what they need, and how we can improve transport systems. Your work will directly support projects that aim to make communities more connected, sustainable, and efficient.

About You

The Social and Market Research team collects views from members of the public, businesses and organisations through questionnaires administered by a variety of methods including face-to-face interviewing at people's homes, on street, at stops and stations, online and postal surveys. The data we collect is used to help our clients in their decision making and guide policy planning.

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to assist with all aspects of data collection including, organising fieldwork activities, supporting fieldworkers to ensure they have the equipment needed, tracking KPIs and ensuring fieldworkers adhere to health and safety regulations and quality guidelines.

Although most weeks the successful candidate will be able to do hybrid working (2-3 days in the office, 2-3 days at home) and we offer flexible working arrangements, there will be occasions where a project may require staff to be in the office 5 days a week and occasional weekends. There will also be occasional site visits.

Here's what you'll do:

Scheduling & Coordination:

  • Organising fieldwork activities
  • Liaising with supervisors to schedule field staff shifts to meet the requirements of individual projects
  • Arranging travel and accommodation (if needed)
  • Arranging project briefings

Support staff in the field:

  • Assisting fieldworkers
  • Ensuring they have the materials and equipment required for the project
  • Ensuring compliance with protocols
  • Responding to queries as and when they arise
  • Regularly checking in with staff to ensure progress and respond to any problems as they arise

Data Management:

  • Ensuring accurate collection
  • Storage of field data
  • Data checking

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Maintaining records
  • Tracking fieldwork progress
  • Tracking KPIs
  • Proactively providing regular updates to Project Managers

Compliance & Quality Control:

  • Ensuring fieldwork adheres health and safety regulations, and internal quality guidelines.
  • Spot checks and quality checks
  • Implementing quality control procedures

Here's what we're looking for:

  • Diploma or equivalent business administration, social sciences, or a related field. Strong Maths and English skills.
  • Prior experience in administrative roles, project coordination, or fieldwork support would be beneficial
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and work to deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and a desire for high quality outputs
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot logistical or operational issues in real time.
  • Comfortable using MS Excel
  • Knowledge of other software will be beneficial and should have a desire/ aptitude to learn new software such as survey programming (SNAP and Askia) and managing data (SPSS)
