Billing Specialist

Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire an experienced Billing Specialist for our Patient Financial Services department who will embrace our mission to extend God's care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. As a Billing Specialist, you will:

  • Review and bill assigned accounts daily.
  • Bill electronic and hardcopy claims.
  • Submit adjusted claims due to audits, changes to charges, diagnoses, billing codes, and DRG.
  • Bill both UB04 and/or 1500 forms to third-party payers daily.
  • Work closely with Clinical Coders when issues arise due to coding edits.
  • File all secondary and tertiary claims after primary claims have been paid.
  • Assist in downloads and other duties specific to billing.
  • Work all assigned claims daily by resolving edits, payer rejections, validating claim errors, and forwarding claims to other departments as needed.
  • Appropriately document the electronic billing system and/or patient accounting system.
  • Handle all customer calls, both internal and external in a professional and courteous manner.

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma required; some college preferred.
  • A billing certification or a minimum of 2 years' experience required in a hospital or doctor's office.
  • Frequent pressure due to time constraints.
  • Frequently works at a PC involving focused concentration.
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling/crouching, sitting, etc.
  • Light physical effort (lifts or carries up to 10lbs).
  • Atmosphere and environment associated with an office setting.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.

Pay Range: $20.07 - $26.42

If the salary range is listed as $0 or if the position is Per Diem (with a fixed rate), salary discussions will take place during the screening process.

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), this position is classified as: United States of America (Non-Exempt)
