Software Engineer

Changing the world through digital experiences is what Adobe's all about. We give everyone—from emerging artists to global brands—everything they need to design and deliver exceptional digital experiences! We're passionate about empowering people to create beautiful and powerful images, videos, and apps, and transform how companies interact with customers across every screen. We're on a mission to hire the very best and are committed to creating exceptional employee experiences where everyone is respected and has access to equal opportunity. We realize that new ideas can come from everywhere in the organization, and we know the next big idea could be yours!

Are you a software engineer with a degree in computer science or mathematics with up to 7 years of industry experience? Are you interested in working with a bunch of exceptional, humble and committed engineers who can help you realise your potential to become a phenomenal engineer?

Adobe Edinburgh are looking for engineers to join our team building Adobe's Administration Platform which enables Adobe's business to grow rapidly.

As part of the Adobe Unified Platform group, our mission is to invent the technologies that allow our product leaders' dreams to come true. We work to solve problems at a scale few other companies face.

We build high availability and low maintenance services that play a critical role for Adobe customers, whether they be individuals or multinational enterprises.

When our customers manage their Creative Cloud subscription, our APIs are behind the scenes.

When multinational advertising agencies and social networking companies need to map thousands of users from their IT system to Adobe's identity system, they use the APIs created in Edinburgh. When customers receive an email welcoming them to their Adobe account, that's constructed and sent by our systems. Sounds simple, but our team co-ordinates upwards of 40 other systems and services to enable our customers to tell their stories and create new experiences.

Our Adobe Edinburgh engineering centre also build and run a real-time messaging platform for distributed intersystem communication that is at the heart of Adobe's $17 billion annual revenues.

There are opportunities in Edinburgh for you to build the services and solutions that help deliver Adobe's vision of the future. You will have the chance to work with a wide variety of engineering teams from across the company.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Work closely with other engineering teams to ensure services return accurate information reliably and quickly
  • Create tooling and automation to reduce operational burdens
  • Write, review and maintain code primarily in Java
  • Encourage the professional and technical growth of those around you

What You Can Expect:

  • A supportive, trusting and transparent working environment
  • An opportunity to do things differently with an expectation you will challenge assumptions and offer solutions
  • Collaboration across widely distributed teams
  • To positively influence the engineers around you through your everyday behaviours
  • To work in an agile team that has a strong focus on the value it delivers to Adobe and its customers

What You'll Need To Succeed:

  • Great communication and collaboration skills
  • Excellent debugging and diagnosis skills across technologies and distributed systems
  • Great Java Skills
  • Previous experience of developing on frameworks such as Spring, Spring Boot and Hibernate would be useful
  • Ability to debug and tune JVM workloads
  • Proficient working with Linux systems
  • Have experience in designing and developing scalable and distributed RESTful APIs.
  • Have experience with CI/CD
  • Experience with New Relic, Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus and Grafana is a bonus
  • Experience using some of Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, Argo CD, DynamoDb, MySQL, Postgres, Redis and Elastic Search
  • Experience with cloud service providers, especially AWS & Azure
  • Be able to clearly explain complex issues
  • Be curious and have a keen interest in continual learning & improvement
  • Previous job experience as an engineer within an internet scale business is a bonus
