AI Engineer

About The Role

We are looking for a hands-on AI Engineer to join Adobe's Commerce Payments team, passionate about improving payment success rates through intelligent automation, experimentation, and data-informed decisioning.

In this role, you'll build and deploy AI-native systems and agentic workflows that optimize payment flows, reduce failures, and unlock revenue for millions of transactions globally. You will work at the intersection of AI, data, and distributed systems, building solutions that directly impact business-critical payment outcomes.

You'll work closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Finance collaborators to turn complex payment workflows into scalable, intelligent systems.

What You'll Do

1. Develop and bring into operation AI agents and intelligent workflows to enhance payment success rates
2. Build and develop AI-native applications, including multi-agent systems and decisioning engines
3. Develop data pipelines that power AI models and experimentation frameworks
4. Build and maintain MCPs and internal tools for AI agents to interact with payment systems
5. Translate payment workflows into scalable automation solutions powered by advanced technology
6. Build validation frameworks and guardrails to improve model accuracy and reliability
7. Collaborate with Engineering to build custom integrations when platform limitations arise
8. Lead experimentation frameworks to enhance payment success rates
9. Establish evaluation systems for latency, accuracy, drift, and failure modes
10. Ensure systems meet high standards for reliability and compliance in a payments environment
11. Enable collaborators through documentation and self-service tooling
12. Contribute reusable patterns across Adobe's AI and payments ecosystem

What You Need To Succeed

• 3–6 years of experience in AI Engineering or related roles
• Experience working with LLMs, AI agents, or automation platforms
• Strong proficiency in Python and SQL
• Experience building or working with data pipelines
• Familiarity with API integrations or workflow automation
• Ability to independently scope, build, and deliver technical solutions end-to-end
• Strong debugging and analytical skills
• Understanding of software engineering guidelines
