Pre - service Authorization Specialist

Position Summary
To perform the patient access functions related to securing pre-service authorizations for selected procedures in an accurate, efficient, professional and timely manner. To perform all assigned patient access duties in accordance with established policies and procedures of AH, as well as regulations and organizations including but not limited to HIPAA, CMS, TJC, AOA and EMTALA.
Educational Requirements/Qualifications
High school or Equivalence degree required.
Two year associate degree a plus.
Meditech Magic experience highly preferred.
Candidate must possess computer keyboarding skills.
Computer experience and ability required with MS Office software.
Knowledge of medical and procedural terminology required as well as two years of past experience in a healthcare professional office or health care facility environment.
Licensed Practical Nurse active certification (LPN) preferred.
Candidate must possess effective communication skills and customer service commitment.
Telephone hardware and etiquette skills required.
Professional appearance is required to support maintain good public relations with daily contacts.
The ability to effectively multi-task is key.

Salary Range
$20.42 - $30.47 per hour
