Human Resources Payroll Manager

Job Description:
The Payroll Manager is responsible for managing end-to-end payroll operations with a strong focus on accuracy, compliance, and employee service. This role oversees weekly payroll processing, supports benefits administration, and serves as the primary payroll point of contact for employees, leadership, and external partners. The ideal candidate brings deep Paylocity experience, union payroll knowledge, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced, high-accountability environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle weekly payroll processing in Paylocity for approximately 350 employees across multiple locations, including union and non-union populations.
- Ensure accurate calculation and processing of wages, overtime, premiums, bonuses, retro pay, and deductions.
- Administer payroll in compliance with collective bargaining agreements (CBAs), company policies, and applicable labor laws.
- Maintain employee payroll and HRIS data, including new hires, terminations, transfers, promotions, pay changes, and leaves of absence.
- Review payroll registers, exception reports, and audits prior to final payroll submission.
- Partner cross-functionally with HR, HR Business Partners, Legal, Finance, and Labor Relations on payroll audits, investigations, and reporting.
- Interpret union contract language related to pay rules, differentials, holidays, and schedules, and support union-related payroll inquiries.
- Assist with benefits administration and support Open Enrollment activities.
- Support Paylocity upgrades, testing, system enhancements, and implementations.
- Serve as the primary payroll resource for employees, managers, and external vendors.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of payroll experience, including multi-state and multi-location payroll.
- Solid understanding of wage and hour laws, payroll compliance, and auditing practices.
- Experience supporting benefits administration and Open Enrollment cycles.
- High attention to detail, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to manage deadlines.
