Responsibilities

Aro Homes is seeking a Civil Engineering Lead to build and manage Aro's internal civil engineering capability, enabling rapid early feasibility, streamlined site design, and consistent submission-ready civil packages for infill residential projects. This key role will be an integral part of the Development team working closely with the Design, Engineering, Site and Real Estate teams. You will be the company's expert and source of truth on civil engineering matters and help realize the company's goal of dramatically increasing the speed and efficiency of infill construction.

Acquisition & Feasibility Support

  • Deliver 48-hour civil feasibility assessments.
  • Identify entitlement risks early.
  • Provide inputs for massing and lot strategies.

Site Design & Permitting

  • Produce preliminary site, grading, utility, and stormwater plans.
  • Produce all necessary drainage calculations and stormwater reports.
  • Coordinate requirements across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Support complete, clean permit submittals.

Coordination Across Teams

  • Partner with PLS, Geotech Lead, Structural, Design, and others.
  • Provide civil inputs to budgets and pro formas.
  • Ensure constraints align with workflows.

Vendor & Agency Coordination

  • Manage external consultants.
  • Review civil drawings and reports.
  • Coordinate with utility agencies and public works.

Process + Systems Building

  • Develop civil feasibility templates.
  • Build jurisdiction requirement library.
  • Implement scalable civil workflows.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering.
  • 5–10 years experience; infill preferred.
  • California PE required.
  • Strong Civil 3D proficiency.
  • Familiarity with Bay Area jurisdictions.
  • Track record of clean permit submissions.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-moving, high-growth environment; strong cross-functional communication.
