Wastewater Process Engineer

Mid-Level Technical Leadership Position

Are you ready to take on a technical leadership position that bridges the gap between management and junior engineering staff? This mid-level role combines process engineering expertise with project management responsibilities, offering a clear path to leadership for those who want to grow their career.

You'll work on complex wastewater and industrial projects (75% wastewater, 25% industrial), mentor junior engineers, and lead select projects independently—all while applying your technical skills in Civil 3D, process design, and QA/QC oversight.

What You'll Do

• Design & Technical Leadership:
  • Apply process and civil engineering principles to wastewater treatment and industrial utility projects.
  • Prepare layout plans, specifications, and ensure QA/QC compliance.
  • Support permitting and regulatory requirements.
• Mentorship & Management:
  • Manage and mentor 1–3 junior staff members.
  • Act as a middle manager between leadership and project teams.
• Project Delivery:
  • Lead select projects independently, reporting to management.
  • Conduct site visits a couple of times per month (mostly Southern California).

What We're Looking For

• Technical Skills:
  • Strong experience in process engineering and civil design.
  • Proficiency in Civil 3D and familiarity with P&ID software.
  • Ability to support CAD tasks and ensure technical accuracy.
• Experience:
  • Typically 3–7 years in process/civil engineering roles.
  • PE license preferred (or on track to obtain).
• Attributes for Success:
  • Effective communicator and mentor.
  • Interest in business development for future growth (not required, but a plus).
  • Comfortable with occasional fieldwork and short travel.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• BIM interaction experience.
• Hydraulic modeling knowledge.
• Regulatory permitting expertise.
• Industrial project experience (laundries, food plants, etc.).

Job Type & Location: This is a Permanent position based out of Orange, CA.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $130000.00 - $150000.00/yr.
