Intermediate Transmission Line Engineer

We're seeking an Intermediate Transmission Line Engineer to contribute to the design and execution of high-voltage transmission projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power systems and transmission line design, excellent communication skills, and a collaborative mindset. This role involves conceptual engineering, technical analysis, and mentoring junior team members. You may lead smaller projects or manage portions of larger initiatives.

Responsibilities:

• Design overhead and underground power delivery systems (4kV–500kV), including scopes, estimates, calculations, and drawings aligned with utility and international standards.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to refine design details.
• Support Professional Engineers with technical studies, cost estimates, equipment specifications, installation standards, and vendor evaluations.
• Develop material and construction specifications.
• Assist with procurement activities, including material take-offs, requisitions, and technical evaluations.
• Design and spot structures for overhead and underground systems.
• Evaluate and specify electrical equipment components.
• Prepare design packages for client review and construction.
• Escalate complex design issues to Professional Engineers for guidance.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams (Civil, Stations, Survey, etc.) within PHASOR.
• Conduct quality control reviews and ensure design accuracy prior to release.
• Support project documentation and coordination efforts.
• Assist in bid and proposal preparation.
• Participate in site visits with Professional Engineers to support engineering and construction activities.

Essential Skills:

• Proficiency in PLS-CADD and AutoCAD
• Strong understanding of transmission line design and high-voltage systems
• Familiarity with drafting and electrical engineering principles
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Effective communication and problem-solving skills

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Drafting experience is an asset
• AutoCAD proficiency

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $145000.00/yr.

This is a hybrid position in Winnipeg, MB.
