Transmission Line Engineer (Wind, Solar, & BESS)
We are seeking a skilled Transmission Line Engineer with a focus on wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). You will collaborate with a dynamic design team to ensure tasks are completed promptly within aggressive project timelines. Your role will involve applying intermediate engineering principles to deliver accurate and precise calculations and design outputs.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the design team to ensure timely completion of assigned tasks within aggressive project schedules.
- Apply engineering principles to produce accurate calculations and design deliverables.
- Utilize design software to create compliant designs in accordance with codes and client standards.
- Develop transmission line design standards or custom designs for renewable energy clients.
- Select and take off materials for basic and intermediate project designs.
- Review and understand project specifications, requirements, and standards.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure design intent is accurately transferred to design drawings.
- Promote and assure quality on all projects and work performed.
- Support a safety culture within the group and integrate safe work practices into designs.
- Provide technical oversight on basic project tasks and make engineering recommendations to higher-level engineers.
- Identify and address quality or technical performance issues.
- Provide suggestions to improve performance and address safety-related issues.
- Create transmission line standards or custom designs in support of renewable energy projects.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible transmission experience.
- Four-year Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer license with the ability to obtain multi-state licensure.
- Experience designing transmission lines for renewable projects.
- Intermediate proficiency in AutoCAD, PLS-CADD, and other relevant drafting and design software.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in engineering and design work.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with renewable energy projects is required.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and solve technical problems related to transmission systems.
- Ability to perform engineering calculations for basic and intermediate designs.
- Great interpersonal skills for developing working relationships with the design team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
The position allows for remote work, with a preference for candidates located in Kansas City or Denver, although other locations will be considered. The role requires a commitment to safety and quality standards, with the flexibility to work within a diverse team environment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $59.13 - $68.27/hr.
