The Tooling Engineer will engage with customers to manage tooling quotes, design for mold-ability, and conduct flow simulations. This role requires professionalism and a customer-focused approach, presenting competitive manufacturing processes and tool builds.
The role requires 40-45 hours per week in a fast-paced, customer-driven environment. Collaboration with customers and engineers is essential to ensure project completion. This position supports manufacturing processes for injection molded plastic parts across various industries, including automotive, defense, medical, and consumer products.
Complete Design for Mold-ability (DFM) requests on customer-supplied part data files and present findings in PowerPoint presentations to program management and customers.
Participate in discussions with customers regarding the feasibility of part CAD data in terms of mold-ability.
Complete tooling cost breakdowns upon customer requests.
Conduct flow simulations using Mold Ex 3D software for both internal and external requests.
Collaborate with the Tooling Technology Center and external tool shops to process quotations for new, revised, or repair tooling.
Develop a tooling and manufacturing description based on the customer's needs.
Compile, estimate, and break down all related costs and delivery timelines.
Attend tooling kick-off meetings, including job start, design review, and manufacturing meetings, providing insights on tool builds.
Present all quoted information to customers in a clear and understandable format.
Review actual cost data and comparable quotations to ensure accuracy.
Maintain files for revision quotes containing all relevant information.
Assist in developing estimating procedures and processes.
Stay informed of current technology in costing methods, program software, and part manufacturing methods.
Experience in Design for Mold-ability with several years in Tooling Engineering.
Proficiency in mold flow simulation.
Experience in quoting and estimating, with direct customer interaction.
Experience in plastic injection molding.
Knowledge of MoldEx 3D or other mold flow simulation software.
An Associate's Degree in engineering or tooling is advantageous.
The pay range for this position is $43.27 - $50.48/hr.
