Tooling Design Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Tooling Design Engineer to support aftermarket operations. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in designing and developing production tooling aids to enhance both new and existing processes.
This position involves translating part prints into effective tools that ensure precise component alignment, such as designing a tool to consistently set Part A to Part B at a specific point.
Approximately 75-80% of the work will take place at the desk with CAD design, while the remaining 20% will involve on-floor interactions with engineers across various cells.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop new tools, tooling, gauging, and other aids to support production operations.
- Create detailed designs and drawings using Computer Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Analyze tooling performance and make design adjustments to improve efficiency.
- Design tooling for CNC machining, turning, and additive manufacturing methods.
- Review technical manufacturing specifications to determine tooling requirements.
- Incorporate ergonomic considerations into tooling designs when appropriate.
- Collaborate with team members to develop design solutions for production support.
- Evaluate the performance of tooling, gauges, and aids to determine their readiness for use.
- Investigate and troubleshoot process issues.
- Provide technical support to operations.
- Consult with external engineering entities to resolve issues as needed.
- Coordinate multiple design projects simultaneously.
- Provide technical support and guidance to vendors during tooling fabrication.
- Analyze process data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in tooling design using NX.
- Experience conducting design reviews.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience with additive manufacturing and 3D modeling.
- Familiarity with Siemens NX and Unigraphics NX.
Additional Skills & Qualifications "Nice to have"
- Degree in a relevant field.
- Experience with TeamCenter PLM.
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Experience with Kaizen events or continuous improvement programs (e.g., 6S).
- Experience with composite materials.
- Aerospace experience.

Work hours are flexible, with start times between 7-8 AM, working nine-hour days from Monday to Friday, totaling a 45-hour workweek.
The contract extends through December 2026, offering 12 holidays off annually.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.87 - $62.50/hr.
