Systems Test Engineer
The Systems Test Engineer is tasked with developing and executing effective test plans and procedures to ensure products meet performance, safety, and reliability standards. This role requires someone with a strong grasp of software, firmware, and electronic concepts related to testing. The engineer will interpret and refine requirements, work within DOORS, translate requirements into efficient test plans, and ensure comprehensive test coverage under project constraints. Responsibilities also include developing and maintaining test setups, scripts, troubleshooting issues, analyzing results, and providing feedback to design, production, and quality teams. Additionally, the engineer contributes to the continuous improvement of test methods, documentation, and product validation processes.
Responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with Program Management, Software, Electrical, and Mechanical engineers to test electronic and software products.
- Review requirements and specifications for clarity, completeness, and testability.
- Develop, maintain, and automate test plans, procedures, protocols, and scripts aligned with product and system requirements in DOORS.
- Import, organize, and manage requirements from customer specifications or system design documents into DOORS.
- Create and maintain traceability links between system, subsystem, software, hardware, and mechanical requirements.
- Conduct regression, performance, functional, and usability testing using both manual and automated approaches.
- Enhance automated test frameworks and scripts to improve efficiency and coverage.
- Establish verification methods, test procedures, test cases, and expected results.
- Develop and maintain traceability matrices to ensure complete requirement coverage and compliance.
- Link all test artifacts, including plans, procedures, automated scripts, and results to originating requirements for robust verification evidence.
- Execute functional, performance, environmental, and reliability tests to confirm conformance to engineering specifications and customer requirements.
- Document, analyze, and communicate test results and non-conformances through structured reports and stakeholder reviews.
- Participate in root cause and corrective action activities to prevent recurrence of test or field failures.
- Improve test methods, automation, tools, and documentation practices for greater efficiency and traceability.
Essential Skills include:
- 7+ years of experience in Test Engineering.
- Proficiency with DOORS/Jama.
- Experience in developing requirements, procedures, and implementing them.
- Software test development with Python, C#, C++, or LabVIEW, with Python being preferred.
- Knowledge of test equipment and digital electronics.
Additional Skills & Qualifications include:
- Experience with JAMA.
- Familiarity with GIT and Bitbucket.
- Experience developing software code to control test equipment and RF hardware for automated testing.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel or similar tools for data collection, analysis, and tracking.
- Experience with test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Digital Multimeters, Signal Generators, etc.
The position requires 100% onsite work due to the nature of the tasks. The workspace is cubicle-based with manufacturing facilities in the back. The team has a diverse culture with some members enjoying social activities like happy hours, while others are more family-focused. The role offers the opportunity to work with equipment used in military installations and provides a chance to be involved from product design through to manufacturing. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Melbourne, Florida.
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $55.00/hr.
