Test Engineer

The Test Engineer executes structured design verification and reliability testing for advanced electromechanical and robotic systems. In this role, you assemble and bring up test fixtures and validation rigs, develop and refine automated test tools, and collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams. You document and analyze test results, contribute to failure analysis and root cause investigations, and help ensure that systems meet both internal quality standards and customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Execute structured design verification and reliability test procedures that align with system specifications and customer requirements.
  • Assemble, instrument, and bring up test fixtures and validation rigs for electromechanical and robotic systems.
  • Support the development, improvement, and automation of test fixtures, validation tools, and manufacturing test setups.
  • Author, update, and maintain test procedures, test plans, specifications, and related documentation in collaboration with engineering teams.
  • Collect, log, and organize test data, measurements, and observations to support validation and manufacturing test activities.
  • Analyze test results and logs to identify trends, anomalies, and potential issues in hardware performance.
  • Participate in failure analysis and root cause investigations to resolve issues and improve product reliability.
  • Contribute to the design and execution of tests in a manufacturing environment, ensuring repeatable and scalable test execution.
  • Work hands-on with motors, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems to validate hardware performance.
  • Use scripting and data analysis tools to automate tests, process data, and generate clear, concise test reports.
  • Collaborate with robotics, hardware, and manufacturing engineers to ensure test coverage, fixture robustness, and system readiness.
  • Support fixture design and integration using basic CAD tools for mechanical and electromechanical test setups.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in hardware testing for robotics or complex electromechanical systems.
  • Hands-on experience working with motors, sensors, actuators, embedded systems, and integrated hardware.
  • Proficiency with test engineering practices, including design verification, reliability testing, and manufacturing test.
  • Experience with test instrumentation and data acquisition systems for hardware and electromechanical testing.
  • Ability to develop, follow, and maintain detailed test procedures, test plans, and test specifications.
  • Strong skills in collecting, analyzing, and documenting test data, logs, and observations.
  • Experience supporting failure analysis and root cause investigations in hardware or electromechanical environments.
  • Proficiency in scripting or data analysis tools such as Python, MATLAB, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems and control theory as applied to robotics and automated equipment.
  • Knowledge of communication protocols such as CANBus and Ethernet.
  • Experience with microcontrollers such as ESP32 and Arduino, including programming in C/C++.
  • Familiarity with ROS or ROS2 and Linux-based robotics environments.
  • Basic CAD experience (SolidWorks or equivalent) for test fixture design and integration.
  • Strong technical communication and documentation skills for cross-functional collaboration.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience testing robotics or automated equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on hardware experience in robotics, electromechanical assembly, and hardware testing.
  • Experience designing or improving automated equipment and validation tools.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols and networking concepts used in robotic systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in an up-and-coming robotics environment with evolving tools and processes.
  • Comfort working across disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams.

Work Environment

This role is hands-on and lab-focused, working directly with robotic and electromechanical hardware, test fixtures, and automated equipment. You will operate test instrumentation and data acquisition systems in a manufacturing and validation environment, frequently interacting with motors, sensors, actuators, and embedded systems. The work involves assembling and instrumenting test rigs, using CAD tools such as SolidWorks for fixture integration, and working within Linux-based and ROS/ROS2 robotics environments. You will collaborate closely with engineers in a fast-paced, growth-oriented robotics setting that values innovation, rigorous testing, and continuous improvement.
