Protection And Control Solutions Engineer

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Analyzing customer applications/specifications and understanding the design of protection and control panel, single line diagram, schematic diagram, logic diagram, control diagram and Bill of Materials, engineering instruction, wiring drawing, wire list, wire tags to fulfill user specifications and requirements.
2. Prepare test plans customized to ensure that multi function protection relays behave the way they are supposed to do to protect the power system installed at.
3. Create relays setting files based on logic diagrams and setting included in coordination and protection study reports.
4. Upload setting files and set up communication including IEC 61850.
5. Execute test plans using secondary injection tests and simulate complex control schemes such as Transfer schemes, synchronizing schemes and Auto-restoration schemes based on logic diagrams
6. Take full responsibility to assigned projects with minor support from Senior Lead Application Engineer
7. Testing of customized Protection and Control solutions both in house and at customer installations
8. Provide field support up to and including commissioning of new applications.
9. Provide training/peer check/design support to other members of the team.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• University degree or College diploma in Electrical Engineering
• 5+ years' working experience in relay testing and creation of setting files for Multi-Function Relays
• Strong knowledge of power systems, protection schemes and communication applications
• Experience in creation of test procedure and maintenance procedure related to factory testing and protection panel.
• Excellent understanding of theoretical bases for all major protection principles including Distance, Line Differential, Transformer Differential, Bus, Feeder, Generator and Large Motor protection.
• Demonstrated team player, initiative to take the lead and mentoring of other members of the team.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Customer focused

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $63.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Markham,ON.
