Technical Sales Engineer
As a Technical Sales Engineer, you will serve as the primary technical resource for our field sales force, actively driving and managing the technology evaluation stage of the sales process. Collaborating closely with the sales team, you will act as the key technical advisor and product advocate, ensuring complete customer satisfaction through all stages of the sales process by identifying and providing reliable solutions for all technical issues.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain an expert level of product knowledge and applications.
- Articulate technology and product positioning to both business and technical users.
- Use knowledge of the market and competitors to develop unique selling propositions and differentiators.
- Identify product development needs and respond to functional and technical elements of RFIs/RFPs.
- Research and build relationships with new customers to align company product development strategically.
- Understand and convey customer requirements.
- Identify customers' needs and sales opportunities to support future growth.
- Perform technical/product training for both sales representatives and customers at targeted accounts.
- Maintain accurate records of target accounts, opportunities, quotes, projects, contacts, and correspondence in company-approved databases.
- Identify potential customers and decision makers within the customer's organization.
- Coordinate and support industry functions, trade shows, and conferences, providing feedback and information on market and competitive assessments.
- Resolve customer issues or difficulties in a manner consistent with company mission, values, and financial objectives.
- Support forecasting for both monthly and annual planning.
- Support domestic and international sales representatives with inquiries.
- Independently generate pricing for custom opportunities and foster collaboration with engineering to support new opportunities.
- Provide input monthly for business development reports.
- Lead technical customer engagements independently from initial pre-RFQ stage to post-delivery field support.
Essential Skills:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
- 1-5 years of engineering experience.
- Strong product knowledge and technical competency.
- Ability to read architectural, mechanical, and electrical blueprints.
- Solid understanding of basic electrical and mechanical specifications.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions.
- Ability to work with challenging customers and make sound decisions.
- Proactive problem-solving skills.
- Ability to execute an action plan/task and achieve objectives with minimum supervision.
- Advanced computer proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Visio and SolidWorks.
- Solid understanding of network communications technology.
Additional Skills & Qualifications:
- Planning skills with the ability to think ahead over a 1-3 year time span.
- Proven track record of successful customer and interdepartmental interfacing.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and presentation skills.
- Available for travel up to 25%.
Work Environment:
- The role involves 25% travel to customers, primarily domestic but could include international travel.
- The position requires onsite work every day, with a schedule of 4-10s or 9/80.
- The sales team, consisting of three members, works collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Initially, the role requires full-time onsite presence for the first six months, with a hybrid possibility afterward.
Job Type & Location:
This is a Permanent position based out of Ventura, CA.
Pay and Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $115000.00 - $135000.00/yr. 8% annual bonus - they have never not paid out a bonus 401K match and profit sharing Health, dental, vision.
