Systems Engineer

Join a dynamic team as a Systems Engineer, Level 3, with the opportunity to make an immediate impact on key programs in the BGS Commercial Modifications Engineering team. Based in sunny Long Beach, California, you'll collaborate with highly skilled Project Engineers supporting Avionics and Airframe Performance Systems product lines. This position offers high visibility and growth potential, allowing you to combine deep expertise with the flexibility and fast pace of post-production modification programs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a cross-functional engineering team focused on project execution for Avionics or APS Modifications.
  • Identify technical risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Develop and execute plans for risk mitigation, issue resolution, and opportunity capture.
  • Resolve complex cross-functional technical challenges by leading Technical Design Reviews and partnering with technical Subject Matter Experts.
  • Navigate complex certification efforts with FAA and EASA appointed personnel.
  • Collaborate with Program Management to develop integrated project plans and schedules.
  • Respond to changes to statements of work, assess impacts, and negotiate modifications to deliverables, resources, costs, and schedules.
  • Support project proposal activities by reviewing Statements of Work and assessing potential impacts on certification and configuration control.
  • Identify and lead improvement initiatives to enhance quality, reduce costs, and streamline project flow.
  • Identify and track engineering performance metrics.
  • Work under minimal direction, demonstrating self-motivation.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry.
  • 5 years of experience in an engineering role.
  • Experience with avionics, cabin systems, electrical structures, or systems engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience working in the commercial aircraft modification environment.
  • Experience leading technical teams or projects.
  • Experience with FAA certification requirements (14 CFR Part 25 Regulations) and Airworthiness Directives.
  • Familiarity with ODA procedures and advanced knowledge of company drawings, documents, and procedures.
  • Experience with company commercial aircraft platforms.
  • Ability to provide briefings to management.
  • Demonstrated interest in continuous personal learning and development.
  • Ability to lead and uphold a culture of proactive safety, first-time quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to quickly learn and work autonomously with limited supervision.

Work Environment

This position is 100% on-site, operating on the 1st shift. The role may require up to 20% travel, with additional non-required travel opportunities possible.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Long Beach, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $42.00 - $62.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
