Structural Engineer
We are seeking a highly skilled structural engineer to join our team, specializing in nuclear power plant projects. Your role will involve conducting structural analysis, including static or response spectra seismic and other load combinations according to plant criteria. You will be responsible for designing equipment and piping supports, building structural frames, and foundations. Your expertise will also be needed for piping or pipe support analysis per ASME Section III or B31.1 design, lifting assembly, rigging or crane designs, and component stress analysis using software such as GTSTRUDL or ANSYS.
Responsibilities
- Conduct structural analysis including seismic and other load combinations per plant criteria.
- Design equipment and piping supports, building structural frames, and foundations.
- Perform piping or pipe support analysis in accordance with ASME Section III or B31.1 design.
- Develop lifting assembly, rigging, or crane designs.
- Utilize AISC steel and ACI concrete design codes for various projects.
- Execute component stress analysis using GTSTRUDL or ANSYS.
- Engage in plant impact reviews and evaluations.
- Assess existing structures and develop retrofit type designs.
Essential Skills
- Proven expertise in structural design and analysis.
- Proficiency in using AISC, ACI, and ASCE design codes.
- Experience with static structural analyses, structural dynamics, and seismic analysis.
- Proficiency in MathCAD and MATLAB.
- Strong communication skills and ability to write reports, calculations, drawings, and specifications.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- BS degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering from an accredited U.S. college.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience, ideally 7+ years, working on design and analysis for nuclear power plants or relevant project types in steel and/or concrete.
- Experience with industrial facilities or similar projects is beneficial.
Work Environment
This position offers flexibility with the option to work fully remotely or from our offices in Naperville, IL, or Atlanta, GA. Candidates should ideally reside within the EST or CST time zones and be located near major project areas or office locations. Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $90.00/hr.
