Structural Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced professional engineer with FAA delegation authority to perform a comprehensive audit of aircraft structural data. This individual will validate design, analysis, and test data to ensure compliance with airworthiness requirements. The role is critical in confirming that aircraft designs meet certification requirements and are structurally sound, maintainable, and safe for flight.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed audits of design, test data, and analysis.
  • Evaluate non-linear finite element models (FEM) and assess for correct solver parameters, material models, and assumptions.
  • Review analytical models and ensure consistency to engineering drawings.
  • Validate compliance findings against the provided basis of certification.
  • Perform hand calculations to verify key results and confirm model validity and accuracy.
  • Deliver a formal audit report detailing findings, errors, and recommendations.
  • Stand by audit conclusions and support regulatory review processes.

Essential Skills

  • U.S. or Canadian citizenship.
  • Minimum 15 years in aircraft structural engineering, with progressive roles in design, analysis, and compliance.
  • FAA DER or equivalent delegation status (Structures).
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, MS Office (Excel, Word), and MathCAD.
  • Expertise in structural analysis and non-linear finite element modeling.
  • Experience in airworthiness certification and compliance demonstration.
  • Knowledge of aircraft materials, fatigue life, and maintenance planning.
  • Experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers.
  • Capable of assigning and reviewing work for compliance and quality.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Preferred titles include Lead Engineer, Deputy Chief Engineer, Technical Manager, or FAA DER (Structures).

Work Environment

The position offers flexibility in work location, allowing for remote or on-site work in the U.S. or Canada. Typical working hours are from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM in your timezone. This can be a contract or full-time position, offering the opportunity to work closely with company president.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $200000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
