Structural Design Engineer
We are seeking a skilled Structural Design Engineer with a focus on mechanical design, particularly in the domain of doors, including hinge and latch mechanisms. This role involves designing complex kinematic solutions in a conceptual environment and guiding engineers in structural design.
Responsibilities
- Design complex kinematic solutions and support design through trade studies, concept development, and interface development.
- Guide the definition of structural architecture by identifying and proposing advanced technology.
- Utilize extensive experience in space vehicle design to guide engineers.
- Create, manage, and run Global Finite Element Models (GFEM) for the stress team.
- Create and execute Detail Finite Element Models (DFEM) for testing.
- Work with composite primary and secondary structure design, and high-temperature material forming.
- Support conceptual design work by creating simple working Finite Element Models (FEM).
Essential Skills
- Proficiency in NX part design, assembly design, surface-wireframe, and composites workbench.
- Experience in using NX for designing aircraft structures.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience in executing trade studies for design solutions considering weight, cost, and schedule constraints.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in wing, fuselage, vertical tail, air vehicle door, and stringer/frames/clips design.
- Knowledge of various material forms and processes for conceptual design trade studies.
- Ability to work in an Integrated Product Team (IPT) environment.
Work Environment
The position requires onsite work in a cleared facility, operating Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 5 PM. The role is part of a short-term contract lasting a minimum of six months, supporting a client onsite.

This is a Contract position based out of Wichita, Kansas.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $95.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
