Sr. System Safety Engineer

The Sr. System Safety Engineer is responsible for leading and executing system safety programs in compliance with MIL-STD-882E. This role involves working across integrated product teams to identify, eliminate, or control hazards throughout the system lifecycle—from concept through disposal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs.
• Perform system safety tasks and analyses including:
• Task Series 100: Management
• Task Series 200: Analysis
• Task Series 300: Evaluation
• Task Series 400: Verification
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure safety requirements are integrated into software, hardware, and test designs.
• Coordinate with customer safety representatives to clarify system requirements and ensure horizontal integration across development teams.
• Support Program Management and government authorities throughout all program phases, including production and demilitarization.

Additional Duties:

• Conduct system safety planning, hazard analyses, and design evaluations.
• Present safety considerations during technical reviews and approval processes.
• Interpret system requirements, customer specifications, and military standards.
• Prepare internal and external reports detailing safety analyses and findings.
• Work closely with engineering disciplines including Systems, Software/Firmware, Electrical, and Hardware Engineering.
• Lead and manage System Safety Working Groups involving internal and customer stakeholders.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in system safety engineering, particularly with MIL-STD-882E.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multiple engineering domains.
• Experience interfacing with government and customer representatives.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $160000.00 - $250000.00/yr. Healthcare, Pension, 401(k)/Retirement Plans, Competitive Pay. Multiple product lines means a variety of work. Paid Time Off.
