Senior Mechanical Engineer

The Experienced Mechanical Reliability Engineer is responsible for collecting and analyzing equipment performance data to identify patterns and predict potential failures. This role involves developing and implementing strategies to enhance system reliability and reduce maintenance costs. The engineer will conduct root cause analyses to address recurring issues, design maintenance schedules based on predictive and preventative insights, and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and improve operational processes. Continuous monitoring of systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards, as well as preparing detailed reports and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations to management, are essential aspects of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and analyze equipment performance data to identify patterns and predict potential failures.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance system reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Conduct root cause analyses to address recurring issues.
  • Design maintenance schedules based on predictive and preventative insights.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new technologies and improve operational processes.
  • Monitor systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.
  • Prepare detailed reports and documentation to communicate findings and recommendations to management.

Essential Skills

  • 5+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in reliability engineering, time studies, and validation.
  • Experience in process improvement and minimizing downtime.
  • Strong understanding of 5 why analysis and FMEA analysis.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for design and redesign purposes.
  • Experience with mechanical maintenance and root cause analysis.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and process engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • 8+ years of hands-on mechanical engineering experience preferred.
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification.
  • Experience managing projects with budgets of $15,000 to $20,000.
  • Ability to maintain vendor relationships, including taking calls and scheduling deliveries.
  • Preferred experience in the mining industry, ME Global, Steel Mill, or Food Industry.

Work Environment

The work environment consists of a manufacturing floor (60%) and desk work (40%). The facility includes a shop floor with automated equipment. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8-5 PM, or a 4x10 schedule. The industrial environment requires wearing boots and pants, and personal protective equipment such as hard hats and glasses. The work can be physically demanding, especially in summer heat.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Phoenix, Arizona.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $105000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
