Senior Automation Engineer

This role is all about leading the future of automation in manufacturing. You'll be designing and building systems that improve how products are made, measured, and delivered—making everything faster, safer, and more efficient. We're looking for someone who's passionate about automation, data, and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and integrate automation systems including robotics, motion control, CNC, vision systems, MES, and third-party equipment.
  • Collaborate on equipment design and specifications to ensure scalable and standardized systems.
  • Build and improve factory-wide automation that connects machines, processes, and data.
  • Develop user-friendly HMI and SCADA applications using Ignition Perspective & Vision.
  • Create dashboards and reports in Ignition for real-time production insights.
  • Use statistical tools like capability studies, Cpk, Gage R&R to validate and improve processes.
  • Lead efforts to analyze and improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Build industrial IoT solutions that link automation systems with enterprise-level platforms.
  • Manage vendors and ensure new equipment is tested and ready for production.
  • Train and support teams in maintaining and improving automation systems.
  • Continuously refine automation to increase output, improve quality, reduce costs, and enhance safety.

Essential Skills

  • Ignition, including MES setup and dashboard creation.
  • SQL & database management.
  • PLC programming, preferably Allen Bradley and Siemens.
  • FANUC robotics.
  • Experience with hard automation and custom system development.
  • Familiarity with homegrown MES systems.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in PLC programming and robotics integration, especially with FANUC robots.
  • Mechanical and electrical design using AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Experience with Rockwell and Allen Bradley PLCs, and RSLogix.
  • Robotic process automation and troubleshooting.

Work Environment

The role involves working both on the factory floor and in an office environment. You will have the opportunity to work with 18+ robots on the floor and lead data processing and dashboard projects to support production metrics. The work environment encourages collaboration on R&D efforts and offers flexibility to tailor projects to your strengths.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $65.00/hr.
