Software Test Engineer

Our client, an electronics manufacturer, is looking to hire a Software Test Engineer in Vaughan, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

• Performing Functional stress performance and interoperability testing on IP routers, Ethernet switches, control applications and network management systems
• Develop and execute product/feature specification test plans
• Provide requirements and specifications needs for development of the software test automation tool and its functional review
• Provide customer support when required, troubleshoot issues to ensure timely remedy
• Writing and reviewing application notes and product literature
• Aid in the development of software test automation tool that interacts with switches and routers
• Performing grey box testing

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 3+ years of experience working in a product development environment, primarily in industrial communication
• University or college degree in internetworking, computer science, electronics engineering or science
• Experience configuring routers/switches and firewalls
• Knowledge of layer 2 technologies such as RSTP/MSTP, IGMP, VLAN, 802.1x authentication, DHCP, Ethernet, Link Aggregation
• Knowledge of layer 3 technologies such as Fram Relay, PPP, Channelized interfaces, OSPF, BGP, RIP, MPLS, VRF, PIM-SM, SNMP, VRP, QoS, IPv6, Tunneling protocols
• Knowledge of Security protocols: IPsec-VPN, TLS, Radius, Firewall, Intrusion detection and prevention system
• Knowledge of OSI Model and TCP/IP Protocol Stack
• Performing grey box testing
• Programming experience in PERL, JAVA or C++
• Configuring Linux systems is an asset
• Software development experience is an asset
• Worked with the following standards: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Association) OR CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Protocols)

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract position based out of Vaughan, ON.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $45.00/hr.
