Software Security Engineer
We are seeking a dedicated Software Security Engineer to join our team, focusing on ensuring compliance with safety-critical standards and enhancing software reliability. This role involves engaging deeply with the verification and validation processes, rather than software development, to maintain the highest safety and compliance standards.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage safety plans ensuring compliance with DO-178C DAL A standards.
- Oversee software development processes, code hardening, verification, and validation, ensuring adherence to safety and reliability standards.
- Conduct thorough safety assessments, hazard analyses, and risk mitigation.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for safety plans, processes, and compliance activities.
- Prepare for and support internal and external compliance audits.
- Provide guidance and training on DO-178C standards and safety practices.
- Implement best practices for process improvements in safety and reliability.
- Communicate safety objectives and requirements effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Investigate safety incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions.
Essential Skills
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum of 7 years in software development, with at least 5 years focused on safety-critical systems and DO-178C compliance.
- High-level proficiency with C/C++ to understand source code to review requirements.
- Deep understanding of DO-178C standards, particularly for DAL A certification.
- Experience with code analysis, structural coverage analysis, and tool qualification.
- Knowledge of verification and how to test requirements according to DO-178C.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Meticulous attention to safety and compliance standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., DO-178C, FAA DER) are highly desirable.
- Proficiency with safety, verification, and code analysis tools.
- Familiarity with Waterfall, Agile, and V-Model software development methodologies.
- Background in the aerospace industry and understanding of regulatory requirements.
Work Environment
This position offers a fully remote work environment within the United States. The role focuses on review, audit, and advisory capacities rather than hands-on software development.

This is a Contract position that is 100% remote.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $70.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
