Software Engineer Opportunity

Hiring a Software Engineer for a reputable company in Palo Alto! We are seeking a Software Engineer to develop control and configuration software for innovative residential energy products. These products require installation, configuration, and diagnosis, and once operational, they must run autonomously, respond to commands, and offer customers valuable telemetry. Your role will be crucial in creating reliable and resilient control and configuration tools to facilitate the installation of renewable energy technology.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Product Managers and Engineers from other disciplines to develop designs and specifications.
• Work with other engineering teams to develop APIs.
• Contribute to overall system architecture.
• Develop modern applications for installation, configuration, and diagnosis.
• Provide technical leadership and innovation to improve developer productivity, product reliability, and overall system resiliency.

Essential Skills:

• Experience building embedded systems that run on Linux with a strong emphasis on software written on the device.
• Proficiency in Golang and Rust, with C/C++ experience also valued.
• Real-world experience with Internet and IoT protocols such as HTTP, REST, WebSockets, and gRPC.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

• Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work in an extremely fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Experience developing highly available mission-critical applications and corresponding test suites.
• Experience with embedded environments/protocols, web development, data analysis/data science tools, or common cryptography mechanisms is a plus.

Work Environment:

The work environment involves a diverse software stack, including embedded and Linux-based systems, web and native apps, cloud services, and local IoT protocols. Pragmatism and a willingness to dive into new codebases are essential. You will engage with stakeholders and demonstrate engineering leadership in a dynamic and fast-paced setting.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Palo Alto, CA.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $65.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
