We are seeking a Software Engineer to support the development and implementation of containerization technologies across Naval Submarine subsystems. This role involves creating common, open-architecture system-of-systems electronic designs aboard submarines to enhance interoperability during joint operations with integrated fighting forces. The engineer will utilize their expertise to write secure code for communications between Kubernetes and a private cloud for edge communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform software integration tasks to ensure smooth operation of systems.
• Develop and test code to enable Linux systems to function effectively with a private cloud.
• Design, develop, and deploy containers using Kubernetes within a Linux OS environment, focusing on optimizing system performance, security, and scalability.
• Develop Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling and implement interprocess communication within containers.
• Optimize GPU performance within containerized environments.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in Kubernetes, Linux, and RKE2.
• Experience with container technologies and orchestration using Kubernetes.
• Strong skills in C++ and Java programming languages.
• Experience in software integration and troubleshooting with Linux/Unix Operating Systems.
• Ability to develop real-time systems and secure code for communications.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience with GPU optimization within containers.
• Proficiency with KubeVIP for troubleshooting Kubernetes issues.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
• Experience with version control systems such as Git or SVN.
• Understanding of interprocess communication within containers and pod networking.
• Proficiency with Kubernetes rulesets for scheduling.

Work Environment

The work environment is located at a 2000+ person site in Manassas, VA. The schedule offers flexibility with options such as 4/10s, 9/80, or a standard 5 days/40-hour week. The Acoustic Rapid Commercial-Off-The-Shelf Insertion (ARCI) program enhances sonar systems for submarines, using commercial off-the-shelf technology to continuously upgrade sonar capabilities, ensuring state-of-the-art and cost-effective systems.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $90.00/hr.
