Sales Engineer

We are seeking a dynamic Sales Engineer with the ability to interpret technical industrial-based specifications and fulfill application and commercial requirements. This role involves interacting with outside sales personnel and representatives to prepare new equipment quotations for customers in selected markets. You will work closely with inside sales personnel, as well as the operations and engineering departments, to select, configure, and price highly technical, engineered equipment.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare formal quotations aligned with the company’s pricing strategies, ensuring an optimal engineered solution.
  • Provide remote field support as a technical center of excellence for aftermarket pump and equipment product lines, promoting application expertise.
  • Make recommendations to product engineering teams to facilitate the design of products that meet market needs.
  • Work cross-functionally across various projects, pumps, and parts.
  • Manage multiple projects through quotation and technical clarification cycles.
  • Generate pump curves, review specifications, create quotes, follow up on these items, process customer POs, and conduct market analysis.
  • Develop and service customers while helping to manage dealer representatives.

Essential Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is preferred.
  • 0-3 years’ experience in technical industrial sales/engineering with pumps, rotating equipment, or in the manufacturing industry is preferred.
  • Ability to quickly learn about pumps, motors, mechanical seals, controls, and related accessories.
  • Technical understanding of pump operation, performance, and application.
  • Experience in interpreting specifications into a commercial offering.
  • Knowledge of contract review and terms & conditions, with the ability to negotiate job-specific terms within company guidelines.
  • Excellent technical writing skills.
  • Self-motivated and customer-oriented.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and collaborate with other departments.
  • Proficient in multi-tasking and making accurate decisions based on available information.
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to read drawings and understand technical specifications.
  • Proficient computer skills, with working knowledge and use of ERP & CRM Software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Market analysis capabilities.
  • Customer development and service experience.
  • Experience in managing dealer representatives.

Work Environment:

The work environment is clean, with minimal noise and organized front office cubicles in an open format.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naperville, IL.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $36.06 - $38.46/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
