RF Mixed Signal Circuit Design Engineer

We are seeking a Sr. Individual Contributor and technical expert in RF Mixed Signal Circuit Design to join our team. This role focuses on designing state-of-the-art ultrahigh power RF transmission systems, requiring expertise in analog circuits, microprocessor systems, programmable and discrete digital logic, power supply circuitry, and electrical/electronic interfacing systems. A general understanding of systems embedded software functionality is also necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Design and test analog electronic circuits, including sensor interfaces, data converters, multiplexers, active and passive filters, and power distribution systems.
  • Perform block level and transistor level layout design and optimization of analog and digital circuits using PCB software design tools such as Cadence, Altium, and PADS.
  • Contribute to the assessment of the feasibility of new business opportunities and develop & author technical proposals and contractually obligated responses.
  • Simulate analog or mixed signal circuits to ensure that performance, noise, timing, and power requirements are satisfied, including worst-case and/or statistical design verification and de-rating analysis.
  • Provide technical expertise and leadership on programs, collaborating with the Project Engineer to lead the development team in achieving committed product functionality within agreed timelines.
  • Ensure all customer, contract, and regulatory technical requirements on programs are met.
  • Lead engineering design teams to meet program objectives concerning quality, cost, and schedule, including on-time delivery.
  • Anticipate and manage technical risks on projects, ensuring mitigation plans are in place.
  • Champion and implement cross-team/intra-team collaboration and continuous improvement in product designs and engineering practices, with a mindset for subsystem reuse.
  • Define processes for technical platforms, system specifications, input/output, and working parameters for hardware and/or firmware compatibility.
  • Uphold the company's core values of Integrity, Innovation, Accountability, and Teamwork.
  • Demonstrate behavior consistent with the company's Code of Ethics and Conduct.
  • Report any quality problems or defects to management to implement corrective action and avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Essential Skills

  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • 12 years of relevant experience in high-speed analog/mixed-signal architecture and circuit design.
  • Deep understanding of clocking fundamentals, including phase noise, jitter analysis, budgeting, and feedback loop dynamics.
  • Proficiency in designing/debugging RTL, developing System Verilog models, and performing behavioral simulations.
  • Extensive knowledge of SPICE simulation, HDL simulation, and logic equivalence tools.
  • Solid programming skills are advantageous.
  • Excellent debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in writing test plans, presenting results, and clear communication with multi-functional teams.
  • A history of innovation and self-directed learning, with demonstrated leadership skills and a growth mindset.
  • Ability to translate system-level requirements to functionality for implementation.
  • Extensive knowledge of RF and digital systems design.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to influence others for optimum interaction with project teams, management, and customers.
  • Ability to obtain DoD issued clearance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Familiarity with modern CAD tools such as Altium.
  • Experience with PCB design and RF components.
  • Knowledge in digital to analog design with RF components.
  • Understanding of FPGA verification and familiarity with FPGA development.
  • Experience with signal integrity and power integrity tools is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Ability to work on both verification and design tasks.
